May 19 – 20 – Anacortes Waterfront Festival
The Waterfront Festival marks the start of another summer season in Anacortes, and Adrift celebrates with two outstanding musical performances during the weekend.
Adrift hosts live music May 18th & 19th
Friday night we will present the CD Release of the Spoonshine Duo. The Spoonshine Duo is a offshoot project from Spoonshine, featuring William Cook and Jacob Navarro. Their mellow, downhome, fusion folk sound is evolving with every performance. The Spoonshine Duo is a favorite at Adrift, and the foundation of our Tuesday Night Music, playing the first tuesday every month, from 6 – 9pm.
Saturday night we will enjoy the stylings of jazz vocalist Gail Pettis. Originally from Gary, Indiana, Gail now calls Seattle home and is a welcome addition to the Northwest jazz scene. She draws inspiration from a diverse musical background including everything from French horn playing to dancing West Coast swing. She has enjoyed appearing at venues such as Tula’s, Bake’s Place Providence Point, the Sorrento Hotel, and Bite of Seattle. Pettis was a 2006 nominee for the Earshot Golden Ear Awards “Northwest Vocalist of the Year.” Gail has played at Adrift twice before, during the Jazzwalk event held in September. We look forward to hearing her again!
April 24th – Neil Stuchal
A new addition to the Tuesday Night Music roster. Neil will be playing the fourth Tuesday of the month, from 6 till 9pm. Neil is the front man and creative juice of the band To Spite Mike, a four-piece tour de force of musical energy. He will be showing a quieter, more introspective side of his work at Adrift. Neil may look a little out of place in the dining room to our regulars, who are used to seeing him in the kitchen, cooking his heart out. We are honored to have him share his other passion with us.
Friday September 1 – A Particulary Vicious Rumor
This very talented group from New Orleans will be drifting into Anacortes again! Some of you may remember this sultry band from last year’s Hurricane Katrina benefit (see below). They will be joining us again, for a late evening show, the music will start at 9 pm, and last till 11ish. Do not miss them!
Wednesday August 23 – Mia Harrison
The lovely Mia Harrison will be serenading us during dinner. She blends the sounds of jazz, blues and folk into a unique and entrancing experience. She will be playing from 6.30 pm till 9 pm.
Tuesday March 21 – Howlin’ Lane Fernando & the Angels of Sin
Part of the Tuesday night music series, this honkytonk bluegrass hootenanny show will swing you through supper.
Monday March 20 – First Day of Spring Hooray for spring!

Sunday November 13 – Department of Safety Artist in Residence Benefit auction, raffle & reception hosted by ADRIFT
Adrift will be hosting this reception to introduce members of our community the awesome collective force that is the Department of Safety. The Department of Safety (DoS) is an artist-run all-ages music venue, art gallery, recording studio, and multi-purpose art space. In its third year, the DoS strives to be a creative hub and artistic resource for the Anacortes community. This fall they have introduced “Do It Yourself Workshops” and an Artist in Residence program. The money raised will support the DoS, which is funded by the residents and the generous contributions of community supporters. The reception will be held at Adrift on November 13, from 3 – 7pm. Members of the community are invited to gather at Adrift for live music, appetizers, and silent & live art auctions. The Department of Safety will also be open to the public for tours on this Sunday so that the community has the opportunity to meet the fine folks who are commited to living and creating art in an unusual setting. Tickets to this event are $15 and are available at the following businesses: Adrift; Penguin Coffee; The Business; and on-line at Department of Safety. For more information contact Melissa Hogan at 360.268.2484 or melissa.hogan@gmail.com.
Tuesday November 8 – VOTE!
This is the last day to send in your ballots for our local elections. We have a responsibility to our community to take part in the democratic action. Go vote!
Wednesday November 2 – Say Cheese!
Congratulations to the lovely and talented Rhonda Gothberg of Gothberg Farms who took two prizes in the ADGA National Goat Cheese Competition. Rhonda took first place for her feta, and second place for her peppercorn chevre. Rhonda has been making her goat cheese for just one year now, and still was able to outshine well known and nationally distributed cheeses. We have proudly been using her feta in our lamb sausage recipe and her wonderful chevre for our Honey Rosemary Chevre plate. As milk production draws to a close this year, we will be introducing her marvelous young goudas. Her cheese making talents are yet another reason to EAT LOCAL!
Tuesday September 27 – A benefit for New Orleans
Come hear the sultry sounds of two New Orleans bands,
Crooks & Nannies, & A Particulary Vicious Rumor.
We booked these two bands from New Orleans last month, before the city was devastated by Katrina. In the wake of the hurricane, they have left their homes and are on tour indefinitely. We at Adrift would like to help support their travels and art. For this tuesday night show we will be charging a $5 door charge, to support the band. We will also have a specials menu, all proceeds from which will be donated to Second Harvest, a national food bank organization. Please join us for rollicking good fun.
Sunday September 25 – Oyster Run
Polish up your chaps and get ready to ride!! The loudest, wildest day of the year in Anacortes. The bikes hit town about midday, and the bikers are here to eat & drink, and have some fun. Adrift will be ready with tons of oyster shooters, not to mention oyster chowder, oyster burgers, and the unbeatable bacon wrapped oysters. Big juicy burgers, scallops, and fish tacos, not to be missed! VVRROOOMM VVRROOOMM!

Just in time for the summer heat, Adrift now carries ice cream by the Lopez Island Creamery. Available in cones, bowls, or added to a dessert, this ice cream is delicious. Our Philosophy
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the philosophy that supports this restaurant: Anacortes consists of a community of artists who are motivated by the remarkable natural surroundings, and who support themselves through the creation and distribution of their work.
Not unlike the Anacortes' artists, ADRIFT's manner of artistic expression is to transform the bounty from the Skagit Valley farmlands and the surrounding waters of the Straits of Juan de Fuca into superior cuisine, and to present it in an atmosphere that will nurture both body and spirit.
ADRIFT is a reflection of everything that is important to our community: wonderful food, fine drink, outstanding art, virtuoso music, and the camaraderie of friends. Enjoy your introduction to ADRIFT, and to the Anacortes arts community.
We enthusiastically invite you to attend the outstanding arts and music events that are a regular feature of the restaurant. And, please do not hesitate to inquire about breakfast, lunch, dinner, spirits, catering, take-away, baked goods, cooking classes, rotating art exhibits and music.
Cheers!
Nicole Holbert
